As remembrance day is today, I wanted to share some of my favourite historical fiction books to do with war. However, these books are based on different Wars. For example, WWII and the Civil War. Nevertheless, I still think it is important to remember all of those who have suffered and kept their honor towards their country.

The Tattooist Of Auschwitz, WWII

This book is so touching and heartwarming despite it being a heavy read. It tells the story of a Jew who is given the job to be a tattooist. He marks every prisoner with an individual number. Readers witness the horrible events of Nazi Germany. This is a book I’d highly recommend! I briefly mentioned it on my post, cheap kindle books I’d recommend too. So glad I picked it up as it’s been one of my favourite reads of this year. Heather Morris adds an element of romance. This doesn’t let readers forget about the current events, instead love constantly reminds us of how much prisoners would sacrifice for loved ones.

The Book Thief, WWII

A story narrated by Death as he tells the story of a young girl named Liesel. She is considered a book thief who then becomes best friend with a boy called Rudy. I liked how readers anticipated what was next due to Death foreshadowing a lot. It deals with dark themes, but Death’s narrative sheds a little light with his dry sense of humor. It certainly doesn’t have a happy ending and I guess that’s what remembrance day is here to remind us of. I learned from this book and I’m glad that I’ve received an emotional history lesson.

Fall Of Giants, WWI Remembrance Day

I am yet to read this book, but I had to include it in the list! I’ve heard amazing thoughts about this book and can’t wait to get on with it. This book is based around World War 1 and the Russian Revolution, so it is fitting for remembrance day. It follows 5 families and they all connect sooner or later in the book. I’m definitely interested to see how it all ends up connected and whether or not I can read this book fast!

Little Women, Civil War

A book that shows how strong sisterly love is. Together they face hardships and come back stronger then ever. No matter how dark life will get, they will always have each other. That’s what matters the most. I love the relationship they all have and the character development is so good! I love a good cozy book that is able to teach life lessons whilst being enjoyable too!

These books are loved by so many people including me! I never want to forget hardships people have faced and reading books based on real events is an easy way to remember. I’d love to know if you have read any of these books and if they have effected you too!
