How To Take Festive Instagram Pictures

To kick off Blogmas day 1, what better way to celebrate then festive pictures? You all loved my autumn bookstagram tips, so I’m back but this time with all those Christmas vibes! December is a month where everyone is all over the place with emotions, we’re all excited! If your festive Instagram posts can somehow add to those happy emotions and make your day better, then I’d say that the job is done!

1. Festive Instagram Props!

To make a picture Christmasy, we need all the props we can get that reminds us of the season! But remember, don’t use too many so it looks like Christmas threw up on your picture. Unless you like that vibe, it’s your Instagram account so you do you!

When I think of Christmas, I’m immediately reminded of the colours red and green, cold weather, baubles, lights, candy canes. And those are just a few ideas! It’s not hard to incorporate those ideas into your pictures and it’s certainly not hard to find these props! Seriously, I went on a hunt in my own house and found the most random decor that works for my pictures!

But if you aren’t lucky enough to find some props in your own home, don’t worry! Tomorrows post will be a guide on how to find some props, without much effort too!

2. Everyone Loves A Bit Of “Hygge”

A few months ago, I had no idea what this word even meant. But when it became the new Instagram lingo, I figured a google search would do me some good. To save you a 2 minute research ( laziness is a real problem), here’s the translation!

hygge/ˈh(j)uːɡə,ˈhʊɡə/nounnoun: hygge

  1. a quality of cosiness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture).

To sum it up, we need to add some hygge in our pictures to get that perfect Christmas, cosy vibe. When I think of comfort and cosiness, I think of scarves, blankets, cushions, mugs and candles ( but really they’re just a prop staple), heck even food! We all love some good comfort food! Honestly sometimes my picture is never complete, but as soon as I add in a cute blanket with some hot chocolate I’m good to go!

3. Keep your style

As much as we all want to overdo it when it comes to Christmas props, we have to remember to stick to our original feed! When the December period is over your new followers may be a little surprised when all of a sudden your prop filled festive Instagram photos have disappeared! Remember the reason why you started your account in the first place and why people wanted to follow you. They liked your different flare, whatever it may be and enjoyed your content! That doesn’t mean you can’t switch up your style! At the end of the day, you get to do what you want with your account!

And that wraps up blogmas day 1! But don’t forget tomorrows post, an insight on how to find your own props! If you want to know what some over upcoming posts are, head on my Instagram where you’ll find a graphic! From there you can even join in with my giveaway too!
