My winter staples are books and TV shows. Well, those are everyday staples. But still, there’s nothing better then snuggling up inside with a good book or your favourite TV shows in winter. My Blogmas day 3 post was some baking treats inspired by these shows. I figured I’d share why I’m a fan of them!
Favourite Books
1. Harry Potter
I know it’s a little cliche, but I love to reread an old favourite of mine! The magical atmosphere to do with Harry Potter is the best and for some reason, I’ve always associated these books with Winter! I definitely think it’s because of them good cosy vibes! I also love the films too and mentioned them in my post cosy films to watch in autumn!
2. The Chronicles Of Narnia
The lion, the witch and the wardrobe definitely reminds me of Winter! It may be a children’s book, but who’s to say older readers can’t enjoy them too? Fantasy books are my favourite genre, and if you haven’t read this book you need to get on with it! I can’t be the only one who has “comfort” books? The Chronicles of Narnia fits in the category as I love a magical reads and as they’re British, that’s some extra brownie points for me. If you’re more of a film person, then the movies do justice to the books!
3. Feminists Don’t Wear Pink And Other Lies
A non-fiction book that I love! If you’re in need for a good laugh, this book is here for you! Although it can get deep quite fast too. I loved reading through the stories of other women across the world, this book really is an eye opener. I’d recommend anyone to read this book! It can be read at any time of the year, but to me this is the sort of book that I’ll read when I want to be cheered up. And what better time then in Winter when some might not like the cold weather as much as others.
Favourite TV Shows
1. Gilmore Girls
An old favourite of mine! If you like watching nostalgic TV shows that were made in the early 2000s, then you’ll love Gilmore Girls! It’s one of those TV shows where you don’t have to concentrate much and you can depend on the good humor to brighten your day. I get a little invested in this show, watching other peoples mundane problems is a nice change.
2. Merlin
I love this show so much! I watched it when Merlin first came onto BBC and I always come back to re watch my favourite moments! The friendship between Arthur and Merlin is everything ( we all like a bit of sass) and of course how magical and British the show is! Netflix currently has Merlin too, so grab a cuppa and sit down for a crazy adventure!
3. Stranger Things
There’s nothing better then watching kids with hilarious humor get up to no good. I definitely do prefer it when Stranger Things was released in October time, but that doesn’t mean I can’t watch the episodes again! I feel like everyone has heard of the show and this time, the hype is totally worth it!
If you would’ve added these books and TV shows on your favourites, let me know! Or tell me what your favourites are too! Tomorrows blogmas post is how to spend a day snowbound, of course there will be movies, books and TV shows mentioned but also much more!
