12 Popular And Underrated Books: Trope Edition

I love a good trope, especially when it’s done well. I have many favourite books, popular and underrated which have the best tropes!

The Chosen One: Underrated Books

Relentless Series

I briefly mentioned this series in my cheap and free kindle post. The chosen one is such a fun trope and there are many fantasy books out there that fit into it. Although it’s not talked about a lot over on bookstagram, this series is a favourite of mine. Readers follow Sara Grey, a girl with powerful gifts as she searches for answers about her Father’s death. I loved the humour in this book and of course I love a bit of romance in a fantasy too.

In 27 Days

For those of you who are fans of YA contemporary, I’d highly recommend this book! It’s such a gripping and easy read too. Hadley Jamison is approached by Death who offers her a deal to send Hadley 27 days back in time to prevent the suicide of Archer Morales. With hints of paranormal, In 27 Days is raw and emotional with realistic, well developed characters.

The Chosen One: Popular Books

The Hunger Games

The Hunger Games is one of my favourite dystopian novels and with the prequel releasing soon, it’s the perfect time to read this book! Boys and girls aged 12-18 participate in the Hunger Games, a fight for survival. When Katniss Everdeen volunteers as tribute for her younger sister, she faces decisions which will make or break her.

Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief

This series is perfect for those who love a good plot, adventure, well developed characters and Greek mythology! Rick Riordan includes diversity in many of his books which is much appreciated. Percy Jackson is a book which I’d recommend if you’re in need of an easy to read book with a great plot.

Enemies To Lovers: Underrated Books

If I’m Being Honest

Based on the taming of the shrew, this contemporary has a lot of YA cliches many of us have come to love. However this book does have another message to tell. It’s a self discovery journey for Cameron and along that comes with great banter from other amazing characters!

Darkness of Light

I seriously don’t know why this book isn’t talked about enough! A New Adult book, Darkness of Light is a fantasy where a war between the Fae have broke out. Ember Brycin meets Eli Dragen and with him comes secrets and truths. Ember finds herself in a world where she soon realises no one can be trusted.

Enemies To Lovers: Popular Books

Sorcery Of Thorns

If you’re looking to read a great standalone fantasy novel, look no further! This book was one of my favourite reads from last year. Not only does it have a great romance, this book talks about magical books! What more could a bookworm want?

The Hating Game

This book has the right amount of slow burn that an enemies to lovers book needs. It’s even getting it’s own movie adaptation! If you’re in need of a lighthearted book, The Hating Game has great chemistry and dialogue too. You can read my full review here.

Friends To Lovers: Underrated Books

The Best Laid Plans

Along with the good old friends to lovers trope, this book includes fake dating too. This book was released this month and it’s sat waiting on my shelf for me! I have a feeling I’ll enjoy this one. For those of you who enjoy reading about first loves and friendship, this book might just be for you.

Avocado Bliss

I mentioned this book in my March releases post! I love that this book speaks of the hardship of life and it’s probably the first book I have read where type 1 diabetes is mentioned. Featuring road trips and sweet romance, Avocado Bliss is perfect for those of you who want to diversify your reading.

Friends To Lovers: Popular Books

The Book Thief

Although I would like to read it more, I don’t often read historical fiction. The Book Thief is definitely on my top favourite historical fiction reads. It’s such an emotional read and I rarely tear up whilst reading. Another book about books, The Book Thief is set during the second World War. Although it’s not a fast paced book, it’s certainly a memorable one.

Cassandra Clare Books

Yes, I didn’t specify! From The Mortal Instruments, to her recent release Chain of Gold, Cassandra Clare writes some of the best romances in fantasy! Her books often feature other couples, each following their own trope like love triangles and enemies to lovers. With unique plot lines, I’d recommend for sure!

And that’s a wrap! 12 book recommendations with some of my favourite tropes! If you have any book suggestions, I’d love to know! I’m always looking to add books on my Goodreads. I’m tempted to do a part two featuring some more tropes, so let me know your favourites!
